Kids adVentures Radcliffe Nursery & Forest School

Brand new to Radcliffe – a full time pre-school Forest School Nursery.

Kids adVentures, an already established nursery in Radcliffe, are expanding to offer a dedicated pre-school forest school site within 5 minutes walking distance of their nursery.

Here, 3 and 4 year olds will have the opportunity to learn within a safe and enclosed outdoor environment full time, led by a fully qualified forest school leader.

This dedicated pre-school forest school opened in August 2018.

The ‘family approach’ of the nursery works, not only for the children who attend, but also their families.  Group sizes are kept small so that care can be on a personal level, tailored to meet the needs and interests of your child/children.

The nursery offers a safe and enclosed space for outdoor learning. Led by a forest school leader, alongside fully qualified nursery staff, the children learn through different outdoor adventures everyday.

The nursery itself caters for children from 3 months to 5 years old, with the full time forest school provision available for 3-5 years olds.

Government funded places are available and childcare vouchers are accepted.

The nursery’s emphasis is to provide quality care encompassing fun, learning, movement, well-being, nutrition and awareness.

  • Baby Room (3 months to 2 years) – Babies are cared for by a team that specialise in care for the under 2’s.  The room is designed in black and white to encompass babies in a safe, soothing, stress-free environment, whilst keeping their brains alert.
  • Lower Toddlers (2 years to 2.5 years) – A large, stimulating space designed as a home from home environment to encourage little ones to grow, encourage independent play and explore confidently.
  • Upper Toddlers (2.5 years to 3 years) – A warm and welcoming environment with a varied activity programme.  There is a wide variety of equipment to encourage exploration, stimulation and learning.
  • Pre-school (3 – 5 years) – A spacious and exciting area designed to prepare child for starting school.  Activities in the room aim to develop speaking, listening, early reading and fine motor skills.

The nursery’s chef designs tasty and nutritious meals made daily using fresh ingredients.  Menus have achieved the Golden Apple Award which meets the high standards of nutrition and dental health.

Some of the activities at the nursery include: –

  • Forest school
  • Swimming sessions
  • Move and Groove
  • Sing and Sign

New – Forest School Holiday Club

New – Forest School Holiday Club in Radcliffe

Kids adVentures specialise in outdoor education and have recently opened their second Forest School in Radcliffe.  Open to 4-12 year olds in school holidays and as a dedicated pre-school in term time, this is a modern way of learning, utilising nature and the outdoors as an inspirational classroom.

Here a fully qualified childcare team, headed by a Forest School leader, run a variety of outdoor activities from den making, and mini beast hunts to nature crafts and animal habitats.

The Forest School meets at the Kids adVentures Radcliffe Nursery on Sandford Street, where they walk 5 minutes to the full enclosed Forest School site.

The Forest School site has shelter and full facilities meaning that the children can enjoy the site all day long.

Rachel Doyle, Nursery Manager at Kids adVentures says: “The children love being outdoors, being in the open space really inspires the children to use their imagination to learn and play.  The children naturally build communication and teamwork skills from doing activities like den making and they increase their confidence in general from trying new things.”

At the end of the day the group heads back to the nursery base where parents can pick up from 4.30pm onwards.

Primary School Admissions: what to do if you don’t get your first choice

Are you one of the nervous parents anxiously awaiting National Offer Day on Monday 16th April?

After 16th April you will be able to view your child’s allocated school, by logging into your account here.  Emails will also be sent confirming school allocations after 9am.

First Choice School Offer

If you are happy with your child’s chosen school, you must respond to the offer, in line with the instructions on the offer letter. Local authorities will inform schools of the offers that have been accepted.

If You Are Not Offered Your First Choice

If your child has not been offered your first choice, you have the right to appeal.  Take a look at the appeals process below.

Appealing the decision

Your appeal is likely to be more successful if:

  • A mistake has been made in the allocation of places according to the admissions criteria and your child would have received that place, or;
  • That the decision to refuse admission was ‘unreasonable’ in the circumstances of the case. ‘Unreasonable’ is a very high threshold for an appeal to be successful. It is defined as ‘a decision which is so outrageous in its defiance of logic or of accepted moral standards that no sensible person who had applied his mind to the question could have arrived at it’.

Appeals Process

You can appeal a decision about a reception class to any school using the online appeals system here

Please bear in mind: –

  • You must complete an appeal form for each school you are applying for.
  • You should give the reasons for wanting a place at each school. A statement will be prepared showing why the Local Authority/ School Governors have not been able to offer a place.
  • Your form and the Local Authority/ Governors statement will form the basis of the consideration by the Appeals Panel. You will be invited to the meeting to discuss your case with the Panel. A Local Authority representative or representative of the Governors will also be invited. The Panel will make their decision based on the information available to them at the meeting.
  • If it is necessary for you to go to the Independent Appeals Panel, further information will be sent to you by the Democratic Services Section of the Council who arrange the appeals meetings. Once the panel has made their decision, there is no further right of appeal.

You can find further information on admissions in Bury here

If you have additional questions about the admissions process you can contact Bury Council on 0161 253 6474.
