Dream Big Little One Nursery

“Little People, Big Dreams”

Dream Big Little One Image

Our story so far…

Established in the 90’s by Linda Gilmartin, the iconic white building belonging to an old Government Department began a new life as a children’s day nursery. Going from strength to strength the nursery was then bought by husband and wife team, Foundations for Learning. In May 2018, the building was newly refurbished and, under new ownership, became ‘Dream Big Little One’.

Our Team…

The nursery is run by another family concern, but this time mum and daughter, Sonja and Christine Butterworth.

With a background in education, Sonja’s passion has always been to ensure the best start in life for all children. Having been a class teacher, SENCO, deputy head, adviser, consultant head teacher and more latterly an Executive Principal, Sonja decided getting it right from the beginning was paramount. She currently has her own consultancy business ‘Dream Big Consulting’ supporting schools and teachers on their improvement journeys. She is also a School Effectiveness Partner for Bury LA, a Trustee of Vision Multi-Academy Trust, a Governor at Bury Grammar School and Magistrate with Her Majesty’s Court and Tribunal Service in Manchester. Mum Christine’s expert financial and legal background compliments this.

Pam Grierson, the knowledgeable and experienced nursery manager, along with Nancy, the deputy manager and their well established team, work hard to ensure all of the children have the best experiences.

Helen is Dream Big Little One’s super experienced cook. Helen’s catering career has been varied, she has worked in hospitality for many years in hotels and restaurants both locally and on the south coast. All food at the nursery is cooked from scratch with fresh ingredients and, where possible, locally sourced produce. Menus are fresh and exciting based on both Helen’s expertise, along with ideas and feedback from the children, staff and parents.

Our Services…

The nursery has a well established team of caring and committed staff offering excellent childcare and development for children 0-5 years.

The newly refurbished rooms and all weather, soft play surfaces outside enable endless possibilities both indoors and outdoors.

The nursery offers: –

  • Jo Jingles music sessions are available at the nursery for parents and children.  Sessions cost £3.50 per week.  Call the nursery on 0161 797 6100 to book.
  • Funded places available.
  • Sibling discounts available.
  • Term Time only places available.
  • Discounts available for teachers, NHS and Emergency Services Personnel.
  • Flexible opening hours to support busy family life 7am – 6pm 51 weeks a year.

Our Philosophy…

Dream Big Little One’s philosophy is all about putting your little ones at the heart of everything they do. Their care and development are the nursery’s up-most priority.

Elf Adventure Challenge Review

How magical is Christmas for kids? Imagine being able to take them to Elf Training!

That’s exactly what we did today at the Elf Adventure Challenge!

Our Adventure

We were greeted by Ginger and Baubles the elves, who recruited us as elves in training, and challenged us to complete certain tasks in order to qualify as honorary elves.

Challenge 1: Building Toys

After being put into teams we were challenged to see which team could build a robot the fastest.  Then, when we thought we were defeated, we had another competition to see who could dismantle it the fastest! Those IKEA flat pack furniture making times came in handy!

Challenge 2: Stacking Presents

Armed with a chart full of clues, we had to race to see who could put the presents in the right order the fastest.  It was great to see my little one steadily stacking his presents one on top of the other until his face lit up when the pile was even bigger than he was!

Challenge 3: Fuelling The Sleigh

Given a sack full of snowballs, the kids had to throw them one by one into the buckets.  Parents/ guardians had to catch the snowballs, for them to be used as fuel in Santa’s sleigh.  How hilarious when you have a large number of kids trying to aim snowballs at buckets all at the same time!

Challenge 4: Sorting Santa’s Treats

Baubles sat everyone down to tell the story of how he had managed to mix up Santa’s treats so the kids had to search for specific items in the sack to put on Santa’s plate, including some milk, sherry, mince pie and carrot.

Elf March

Our challenge was completed by performing the Elf March, made even more magical with all the lights and bubbles.  Every one of the children seemed to have forgotten that parents were even present by this stage and enjoyed dancing and jumping around in excitement.

Honorary Elf Presentation

After learning the ‘Elf Hand Shake’, each child received an Elf Adventure Challenge Completion Certificate and a copy of ‘Sprout’s Elf Adventure Challenge’ book to take home.

What A Way To Finish The Day

As we went to The Ice Cream Farm for the Elf Adventure Challenge, it would have been rude not to finish the day with a play in the park area and, of course, an ice cream!

Don’t Delay, Book Your Tickets Today!

There are still a small number of tickets remaining for Sunday 23rd and Monday 24th December.  Don’t miss out!  Follow the links here to book your tickets!
