WHAT'SONINBURY CadburyEasterEggTrail

Cadbury Easter Egg Trail at Dunham Massey

Have you ever been on one of the Cadbury Easter Egg trails?

They are held at National Trust properties across the country and we went along to Dunham Massey to try it for ourselves.

Easter Egg Trail

As an introduction to the trail, each child receives a ‘One Springy Day’ booklet containing a map that you can follow around the park in order to seek out different checkpoints.  There are six in all to find, and at each area, children can obtain a stamp in their ‘One Springy Day’ booklet, before moving onto the next checkpoint.

The trail leads you through the lovely garden paths, weaving around all the flowers and shrubs, while the children excitedly search out the next checkpoint.  Along the way, there are lovely wooden sculpted creatures to find, which went down extremely well with the little ones!

Once all six checkpoints have been found, and six stamps received, make your way back to the entrance where each child receives a Cadbury’s egg as a reward.

What else is on?

Percy & The Park Keeper

The story, based on the book by Nick Butterworth, currently plays a big part of the Easter event with the story being read to the children on the lawn, amongst the trail, by Percy himself.  The children sat on picnic rugs, under a gazebo, and listened to the beautifully animated tale, being included in the story at various different points.

Park Residents

Once you have completed the Easter Egg trail, take a walk through the grounds to find ducks, swan, and the resident deer walking amongst you, quietly eating.

Faces of Change – Nature’s Champions

Champions of the Natural World are currently featured in a special exhibition at Dunham Massey.  It is a celebration of the people that inspired the way we think about nature.  The portraits include William Wordsworth, Sir David Attenborough and Beatrix Potter to name but a few.
