CODE A DRONE WORKSHOP – UNIVERSITY OF SALFORD

Age: Suitable for ages 10 and older

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a drone! Learn how to code and fly drones, then take them on a search and rescue mission with the Morson Maker Space from the University of Salford, lead education sponsor for Manchester Science Festival. Chat to researchers to find out more, and even take a VR tour (the VR to is suitable for ages 13 and older only).

GADGET FACTORY – EDINBURGH SCIENCE FESTIVAL/SIEMENS

Age: Ages 8 and older only
Time: 10.15, 11.30, 12.45, 14.30 and 15.45
Duration: 1 hour

Try your hand at soldering your own light-up badge. Tickets are required; you can book online now, or a limited number of tickets will be available on the day from reception.

FREE LEGO, MY LITTLE PONY, BEN10 & FACEPAINTING EVENT

Age: Suitable for age 3+

Smyth’s Toy Superstore will be holding a free event with DJ, facepainting, goody bags and character appearances.  There will also be the chance to win £50 Smyths Toy gift voucher to spend in-store on the hour, every hour.

BURY TRANSPORT MUSEUM

Age: Suitable for all ages

Visit the museum to take a look at vintage vehicles, original artifacts and interactive exhibits.  You can see a horse drawn tram that was originally a chip shop and a bus that is famous for appearing in movies.

Traction engines will also be in steam outside the museum (weather permitting).

SCIENCE SHOWDOWN: MAKERS

Age: Recommended for ages 5 and older

Necessity really is the mother of invention in this crazy, madcap show. Find out how science helped three inventors create and engineer things we use every day.

PINHOLE CAMERAS

Age: Recommended for ages 7 and older

See the world from a different angle! Make your own pinhole camera in our make-and-take workshop and test it in our Upside-Down Disco.

Spaces must be reserved at the information desk.

PRINTING WORKSHOPS

Age: Recommended for ages 5 and older

Put your own stamp on things in this interactive drop-in workshop. Find out how we used to print designs on cotton and take home your very own printed piece of material.

GREATER MANCHESTER POLICE MUSEUM

Age: Suitable for all ages

Take a look around the museum during the half term open day.  Learn about the history and development of Greater Manchester Police and take a look at the many archive materials and objects.

When: 10:30am – 3:30pm
